Chair's Report - 21 July 2021

Benniworth Parish Council

Chairs Report for Annual General Meeting Wednesday 21st July 2021

Since our last AGM on 10th June 2020, Council has met either virtually or in person on 5 occasions.  Completed tasks during are: the installation of a dog waste bin in Silver Street, the replacement of the damaged Church Lane salt bin, the making of a new Notice Board for Silver Street. The public decided not to accept East Lindsey’s offer of fruit trees for the “Village Green”. Two planning applications were received. Council gave their observations to the proposed extension to the Campsite at Homestead Lodge. This application was withdrawn by the applicant. The second application concerned the construction of a menage at Grey Barn, Silver Street. Council had no observations but made the Planning Department aware that an access had been created.

The Public Meeting identified matters to be dealt with in 2021/2022 and will be discussed at the Council Meeting following the AGM.

In March, Cllr. Jane Gladman tendered her resignation due to her involvement with the Campsite Planning Application. During her short time on the Council, Jane made her mark by her detailed work on signage for Meadow Lane, Meadow Close and Click’em Hill. Currently there are only five Councillors and there is an urgent need for fresh faces from the younger age group.

Finally, I should like to express thanks on behalf of you all to our Parish Clerk, Phil Dyas. We could not function without his considerable input. His role has been made more stressful by the Pandemic, then hand surgery and despite all, he helped Jeff Hancock construct the Silver Street Notice Board.
